At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, we take our responsibilities under Security Industry Authority (SIA) regulations seriously. We ensure that personnel undertaking licensable security activities hold the appropriate, valid SIA licence for their role, in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Our minimum requirement is an SIA Door Supervisor licence. We set this as our baseline because Door Supervisor training covers a broader range of relevant security skills, including conflict management, physical intervention, emergency procedures and public safety. This provides a strong foundation for the varied demands of professional security work, rather than limiting our expectations to the minimum entry-level qualification for certain roles.
We are committed to maintaining high standards through appropriate staff vetting, licence verification, professional conduct and ongoing attention to compliance. By setting clear expectations from the outset, we aim to ensure our clients receive a reliable, capable and professional security service.
Higher standards. Professional personnel. Security you can trust.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, we believe that professional security dog handling demands more than simply meeting the minimum legal requirements. We are committed to maintaining high standards of competence, canine welfare, operational safety and professional accountability across every deployment.
We recognise the value of the National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU) in promoting professional training, responsible handling and welfare standards within the security dog industry. While NASDU membership and certification are not, in themselves, universal legal requirements, we believe that recognised industry training and demonstrable competence are essential to responsible security dog operations.
We do not compromise on the standards expected of our dog-handler teams. We require the relevant NASDU qualifications or certification applicable to the roles and services we provide, alongside all legally required licences, training and operational competencies. Where these requirements are not met, a team will not be accepted for deployment by us.
Our expectations extend beyond paperwork. We place importance on appropriate dog handling, responsible training, safe transportation, canine welfare and the ability to work professionally within the law. We also recognise the importance of applicable legislation and relevant British Standards, including BS 8517-1 for general-purpose security dogs.
For us, these requirements are not simply a box-ticking exercise. They reflect our responsibility to our dogs, our handlers, our clients and the public.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, meeting the minimum is not our ambition. Maintaining professional standards, protecting canine welfare and delivering security responsibly are the standards we expect of ourselves and every team we deploy.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, we do not rely solely on qualifications, certificates or previous operational experience when assessing a security dog. Every new dog-handler team must meet our own standards before being accepted for deployment, regardless of any existing NASDU qualifications or certifications.
We personally assess each new dog and handler combination to evaluate the dog's temperament, behaviour, confidence, environmental suitability and ability to cope with the demands of the intended role. We consider the handler's competence, control and ability to recognise and respond appropriately to the dog's needs.
A dog must be physically fit, mentally suitable and capable of carrying out its duties without being subjected to unreasonable stress, distress, exhaustion or excessive physical demands. We consider each dog's individual capabilities and limitations, recognising that not every dog is suited to every operational environment.
Our assessments help us identify potential concerns, establish suitability and determine whether further training, support or a different role may be appropriate. Where a dog does not meet our required standards, we will not approve the team for deployment until those concerns have been appropriately addressed.
External qualifications and industry certifications are important, but they do not replace our own assessment of a dog's suitability for operational work. We take personal responsibility for the teams we deploy and will not compromise canine welfare, handler competence or public safety to fill a position.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, a certificate may demonstrate training, but our assessment determines whether a team meets our operational standards. No dog is deployed simply because it holds a qualification. Its welfare, suitability and wellbeing must come first.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, our responsibility for our working dogs extends far beyond the operational environment. Their safety, comfort and welfare remain a priority from the moment they leave home to the completion of every deployment.
Our K9 transport vehicles are purpose-equipped with the needs of working dogs in mind, taking account of the relevant transport and on-site vehicle kennelling provisions of BS 8517-1:2016, the British Standard code of practice for general-purpose security dogs.
We believe professional canine security begins with responsible care, and that includes ensuring every journey is undertaken in a secure, appropriately equipped and carefully managed environment.
Our transport arrangements incorporate features intended to support canine safety, comfort and welfare throughout the working day.
Appropriate ventilation, heating and air conditioning help maintain suitable environmental conditions within the vehicle. Temperature monitoring allows handlers to assess conditions and respond promptly when adjustments or additional precautions are necessary.
Our vehicles incorporate secure dog transport arrangements designed to keep working dogs safely contained during transit. Suitable crate arrangements, hygienic flooring and non-slip surfaces help support stability, cleanliness and comfort.
We recognise the risks that excessive heat, cold and inadequate ventilation can present to working dogs. Environmental conditions are monitored, with appropriate welfare checks and precautions taken to help prevent overheating, discomfort and distress.
Access to fresh drinking water and appropriate opportunities for rest are important parts of responsible deployment. Our handlers must consider each dog's individual needs, working conditions and recovery requirements throughout the shift.
Vehicle and crate arrangements must allow handlers to manage foreseeable emergencies appropriately. We place importance on secure accommodation, suitable access and emergency arrangements that support the safe handling and welfare of our dogs.
We understand that a security dog is not simply equipment transported from one assignment to another. Every dog is an individual living being whose physical condition, behaviour and welfare must remain central to operational decisions.
Our handlers are expected to remain attentive to signs of fatigue, distress, overheating, discomfort or illness. Where conditions may compromise a dog's welfare, appropriate action must be taken, including adjusting or suspending duties where necessary.
We believe that professional security operations should never require a dog to endure unreasonable conditions or unnecessary physical or mental strain.
BS 8517-1:2016 provides an important framework for the responsible deployment and welfare of general-purpose security dogs, including transport and vehicle kennelling.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, we take these provisions seriously and design our transport arrangements with the relevant requirements in mind. Our approach reflects our wider commitment to responsible dog handling, operational safety and high standards of canine welfare.
Our principle is straightforward: the demands of the job must never come before the welfare of the dog.
Every journey, every shift and every deployment carries a responsibility. We take that responsibility seriously.

Professional personnel. Responsible operations. Insurance you can have confidence in.
Your security is our responsibility, and we are committed to delivering our services with the professionalism and care our clients expect.
At Agility K9 Protection Ltd, we understand that circumstances can change. Licences can expire or be revoked, qualifications can lapse and individual circumstances can affect a person's eligibility to undertake security duties. That is why we believe compliance must be an ongoing process, not a one-off check during recruitment.
We place importance on conducting regular compliance reviews and verifying the relevant SIA licence status of our personnel. These checks help us identify changes in licensing status, expired licences or other issues that may affect an individual's eligibility to carry out licensable security activities.
Our position is straightforward: personnel must hold the appropriate, valid SIA licence whenever one is legally required for their duties. If a licence expires, is revoked or cannot be appropriately verified, the individual will not be permitted to undertake the affected licensable activities until the issue has been resolved.
Our responsibility does not end when a member of staff joins the company. We aim to maintain accurate records, review relevant documentation and address compliance concerns promptly. This helps protect our clients, supports lawful operations and reinforces the professional standards expected of everyone representing Agility K9 Protection Ltd.
